Clean Air Filters
What is it?:
Clean air filter can remove harmful things in the air you breath such as dust, pollen, bacteria, viruses, volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Why is it needed?:
Air pollution is taking years away from the lives of children growing up in high pollution parts of the world. Even in developed countries, the level of PM2.5 particles that are small enough to cause lung cancer is at dangerous levels.
There are masks already.
Why OOYOO?:
Current masks are non-recyclable. Wearing todays masks is like wearing a new plastic bag everyday. OOYOO is generating filter technology that can be re-used and doesn’t cost the earth.
Filters have at least have 3 layers.
- The outer layer should prevent splashes.
- The middle layer should stop pollution or viruses.
- The layer closest to your skin should not cause allergies.
Most mask filters are made of spun-bound polypropylene (PP). These are:
- non-recycleable
- don’t work under exposure to humidity (i.e. when you breathe)
- can create a allergic skin response.
What is OOYOO’s way?:
OOYOO is developing a propriety way to make sustainable natural fabrics (or washable synthetic fabrics) into virus and pollen repellent materials. This means that people can make their own cloth masks, and simply insert a sterilizable washable OOYOO inner fabric, every time they need it. You can sterilize the inner fabric with a special spray we provide that automatically renews its virus blocking properties.
